Feng Shui for Love & Relationships: Attracting and Nurturing Partnership

Practitioner & Guide
Love and relationships are one of the most sought-after feng shui goals — and for good reason. Your home reflects your inner state, and the way you've set up your space can either support or block romantic partnership. Whether you're single and seeking, or in a relationship that needs re-energizing, feng shui offers concrete adjustments that shift the energy of love in your life.
The Relationship Corner
In Classical feng shui, the relationship area is in the southwest corner of your home, governed by the Earth element. In Black Hat feng shui, it's the far-right corner from your front door. This area governs all partnerships — romantic, business, and close friendships. See the Bagua map for more.
To activate the relationship corner: keep it clean and uncluttered, add Earth elements (ceramics, stone, crystals, earthy colors), and most importantly, add pairs. Two candles, two crystals, two plants — pairs symbolize partnership. Avoid single objects or images of solitude in this area.
The Bedroom: Command Central for Love
The bedroom is the most important room for romantic feng shui. It's your most intimate space, and its energy directly affects your love life.
Make room for two. If you're single and seeking partnership, your bedroom should look like someone else could move in tomorrow. Clear out half the closet. Use two nightstands with two matching lamps. Don't push one side of the bed against a wall. The physical space you create sends the message that there's room for another person.
The bed itself: A solid headboard against a solid wall represents stability. Avoid headboards with bars or gaps. Use high-quality bedding in skin tones — colors that feel nurturing and sensual. See Yin and Yang for why the bedroom should be yin-dominant.
Remove relationship blocks: Photos of ex-partners, gifts from past relationships, and artwork depicting solitary figures all carry old energy. If you're seeking new love, clear these out. If you're in a relationship, ensure your bedroom art depicts happy couples, not single figures.
Pairs and Symbolism
Feng shui works with symbolism. Your environment is constantly communicating with your subconscious. If your home is full of single items, solitary imagery, and "me" energy, it reinforces independence. If you want partnership, introduce "we" energy:
Pairs of objects: Two candles on the nightstand, two pillows on the bed, two plants flanking the entry. The key is that they're matching — not two random different objects, but a genuine pair.
Artwork: Images of happy couples, romantic landscapes, or art that depicts connection. Avoid artwork of a single person looking away or images of loneliness.
Rose quartz: The traditional love crystal. Place a piece of rose quartz in the relationship corner or on your nightstand. Whether or not you believe in crystals, the intention and symbolism matter.
Common Love Blocks in Feng Shui
1. Single-person energy everywhere: One nightstand, one lamp, one pillow, photos of yourself alone. If your space says "solo," it's hard to attract a duo.
2. Clutter under the bed: Clutter under the bed affects your sleep and your subconscious. Old letters, photos of exes, or items from past relationships under the bed keep old energy active in your love life.
3. Mirrors facing the bed: A mirror reflecting the bed can invite a third party into a relationship (symbolically). It also bounces energy around the bedroom, disrupting the yin calm needed for intimacy.
4. A bathroom in the relationship corner: The draining energy of a bathroom works against partnership. Keep the door closed, lid down, and add Earth elements. See the bathroom guide.
5. Dead or dying plants: These represent declining energy. In the relationship area specifically, they signal a dying connection. Remove them immediately.
For Couples: Re-energizing an Existing Relationship
If you're already partnered and the relationship feels stale, look at your shared space. Has the bedroom become an office? Are there piles of laundry and clutter? Is the relationship corner being used as storage? Clear it. Add fresh flowers, light candles, and spend time in the relationship area of your home with intention. Sometimes the simplest shift — decluttering the bedroom and adding a pair of candles — re-energizes the connection.
Also check your Five Elements balance. A bedroom that's too Yang (bright, active, full of electronics) suppresses intimacy. Soften it with Earth and Water elements.
Your Personal Relationship Element
In Classical feng shui, your BaZi chart reveals your personal relationship element (called the "spouse palace" in BaZi). This tells a practitioner which elements to activate or calm in your space to support your specific relationship needs. Generic love tips help, but a personalized reading is far more precise.

Frequently Asked Questions
How do I attract love with feng shui?+
To attract love, make physical space for a partner in your bedroom — clear half the closet, use two nightstands with two matching lamps, and don't push one side of the bed against a wall. Activate the relationship corner (southwest in Classical feng shui, far-right from the front door in Black Hat) with pairs of objects, Earth elements, and rose quartz. Remove photos of ex-partners and solitary imagery.
Where is the relationship corner in feng shui?+
In Classical (Compass) feng shui, the relationship area is in the southwest corner of your home, governed by the Earth element. In Black Hat feng shui, it is the far-right corner from your front door. Enhance it with pairs of objects (two candles, two plants), Earth elements like ceramics and crystals, and colors like pink, red, and white.
What should I remove from my bedroom to improve my love life?+
Remove photos of ex-partners, gifts from past relationships, artwork depicting solitary figures, clutter under the bed, and mirrors that directly face the bed. If you're single and seeking, make sure your bedroom has room for two — two nightstands, two lamps, and cleared closet space — so the energy says there's space for a partner.
Is it bad feng shui to have a mirror facing the bed?+
Yes. A mirror facing the bed bounces energy around the room, disrupting the calm yin energy needed for rest and intimacy. In relationship feng shui, a mirror reflecting the bed is said to invite the energy of a third party. If you can't remove it, cover it at night with a cloth or curtain.
What are the best feng shui symbols for love?+
The most powerful love symbols are pairs — two candles, two plants, two crystals. Rose quartz is the traditional love crystal. Artwork depicting happy couples or romantic scenes reinforces partnership energy. Avoid single objects, images of loneliness, or anything that carries energy from a past relationship.
