Feng Shui for Wealth & Abundance: Activating Your Money Energy

Practitioner & Guide
Wealth in feng shui isn't about getting rich quick. It's about removing the energetic blocks that prevent abundance from flowing into your life, and creating an environment that naturally attracts and holds prosperity. Money is a form of chi — it flows where energy flows freely and stagnates where energy is blocked.
Where Is the Wealth Corner?
In Classical (Compass) feng shui, the wealth area is in the southeast corner of your home. This direction is governed by the Wood element, which represents growth, expansion, and vitality — the same qualities that drive financial growth. In Black Hat feng shui, the wealth corner is the far-left corner from your front door. Either way, identifying this area is your first step. See the Bagua map for the full breakdown.
How to Activate the Wealth Corner
Once you've located your wealth area, assess its current state. Is it cluttered? Dark? Used for storage? A neglected wealth corner sends the message that you're not ready to receive abundance. Here's how to activate it:
1. Declutter first. Remove broken items, dead plants, and anything that feels stagnant. You cannot add wealth energy to a pile of clutter — the clutter will neutralize it.
2. Add healthy, vibrant plants. Wood is the element of the wealth corner. A lush, healthy plant (jade plant, pothos, or bamboo) symbolizes growing abundance. Keep it alive — a dead plant here is worse than no plant at all.
3. Add a water feature. Water feeds Wood in the generating cycle, and Water governs cash flow. A small tabletop fountain in the wealth corner is one of the most powerful abundance activations. Keep the water clean and flowing — stagnant water means stagnant money.
4. Use wealth colors. Purple, green, and gold are the traditional wealth colors. A purple accent, a green plant, or a gold object in the wealth corner reinforces the intention.
5. Place something that represents abundance to you. This is personal. A vision board, a symbol of your financial goal, a check made out to yourself for a specific amount. The object should make you feel expansive when you look at it.
The Stove and Wealth
The stove is your primary wealth generator in feng shui. Each burner represents a source of income. Keep the stove clean, ensure all burners work, and rotate which ones you use. A broken burner is a blocked income stream. Read the full kitchen guide: Feng Shui for the Kitchen.
Wealth Blocks to Watch For
Leaking water: A dripping faucet or leaking pipe is literally leaking wealth. Fix all leaks immediately. See the bathroom guide for more on water and wealth.
Bathroom in the wealth corner: If your bathroom is in the southeast (or far-left from the front door), its draining energy works against wealth. Keep the toilet lid down, the door closed, and add a healthy plant and Earth elements to counter the drain.
Clutter in the entry: The front door is where opportunity enters. A cluttered, blocked, or unwelcoming entry restricts the flow of prosperity.
Broken items: Anything broken in your home — a cracked mirror, a stopped clock, a broken appliance — represents stuck energy. In the wealth area specifically, broken items signal blocked income.
Your Personal Wealth Direction
In Classical feng shui, your personal wealth direction is determined by your BaZi chart. Your "wealth element" — the element that represents money for you specifically — is different from everyone else's. For some, it's Water. For others, it's Fire or Metal. Activating your personal wealth element in your space is far more powerful than generic wealth tips.
The Mindset of Feng Shui Wealth
Feng shui wealth activation works best when paired with internal alignment. Gratitude is the ultimate wealth attractor — it signals that you already have enough, which paradoxically opens you to receive more. Keep your wealth corner clean and visit it regularly. When you place an object there, do it with intention. The physical adjustment and the mental intention work together.

Frequently Asked Questions
Where is the wealth corner in feng shui?+
In Classical (Compass) feng shui, the wealth corner is in the southeast area of your home, which is governed by the Wood element. In Black Hat feng shui, it is the far-left corner from your front door. Enhance it with healthy plants, a water feature, and wealth colors like purple, green, and gold.
How do I attract money with feng shui?+
To attract money, first declutter your wealth corner and your entryway. Add a healthy plant and a small water fountain in the wealth area. Fix any leaking faucets, as dripping water represents leaking wealth. Keep your stove clean and all burners functional, as the stove is your primary wealth generator. Pair physical adjustments with a mindset of gratitude and abundance.
What should I put in my feng shui wealth corner?+
Place healthy, vibrant plants (Wood element), a small flowing water fountain (Water feeds Wood), purple or gold accents, and something that personally represents abundance to you. Avoid clutter, broken items, dead plants, or trash cans in this area. A vision board or symbol of your financial goal is also powerful.
Is it bad feng shui to have a bathroom in the wealth corner?+
A bathroom in the wealth corner is challenging because bathrooms drain energy and water (which represents wealth) away. To minimize the impact, keep the toilet lid down, the bathroom door closed, and add a healthy plant and Earth elements like ceramic or stone to control the draining Water energy. Keep the space immaculately clean.
What is the feng shui wealth element for me personally?+
Your personal wealth element is determined by your BaZi (Chinese astrology) chart, calculated from your birth date and time. For some people, their wealth element is Water; for others, it's Fire, Metal, Earth, or Wood. A feng shui consultation that includes your BaZi chart reveals which element to activate in your space for maximum wealth support.
