Feng Shui Your Home Office for Maximum Productivity

Remote work is the norm for thousands of Utahns, tech workers in Silicon Slopes, entrepreneurs in Salt Lake City, freelancers scattered across the Wasatch Front. Most home offices are set up for convenience. Almost none are set up for energy flow. And the difference shows up in your focus, your creativity, and yes, your income.

    Desk Position Is Non-Negotiable

Face the door. Never sit with your back to it. Having a clear view of who enters your space puts you in a position of power and reduces the background anxiety most people don't even realize they're carrying. If you can't move the desk, put a small mirror on your monitor so you can see behind you.

    The Clutter Tax

That stack of papers you've been avoiding? It's an energy leak. In Feng Shui, clutter represents postponed decisions. Every piece of it costs you focus. Clear your desk at the end of each workday, just that habit alone can shift your mornings.

    Activate Career Energy

The career area sits at the center front of your office (the wall with your door). Put something intentional there, a vision board, a water feature, a symbol of what you're building. Even a small tabletop fountain changes the energy.

    Air and Light

Utah's dry climate makes indoor air stale. Add a snake plant or pothos, they bring growth energy and literally clean your air. Pair with full-spectrum lighting to counter the drain of fluorescent or dim overhead lights.

    Color

Earth tones (yellows, tans, terracotta) ground your workspace. Need more creativity? Green or blue. Careful with too much red, fire energy in an office leads to burnout, not productivity.

    The Mountain Behind You

A solid wall behind your chair represents stability and support. If your back faces a window, add a tall bookshelf or a substantial chair with a high back.

Your environment isn't separate from your work. It is part of your work. Schedule a consultation if you want help optimizing your setup.
